The Guenther's First Visit to Marietta!

This weekend was special as it was Mr. & Mrs. Guenther's first visit to our home in Marietta! Mr. Guenther was in Alabama all last week, was going to fly home (through atlanta) to Raleigh, and then head back to Alabama next week. SO he just stopped in Atlanta, and Mrs. Guenther drove down Friday to meet him here. Our brother in law, Mike, was also in town on business so all of us were able to go out to dinner together to Jim & Nick's BBQ Friday Night.
Saturday morning Kyle & I went for a run (I am up to 2.6 miles!) then came back to cook a pancake breakfast for his parents. They were showing us the plans of their new house that they will move into around Nov 1st, and the subject of Garden Ridge came up. They had never been there, so we decided to introduce them to the wonderful store! You can get so much stuff for not a lot of money, and they both really enjoyed it! We then went to REI, where Kyle found awesome water shoes for his trip he's taking next weekend. The Guenther's bought them for his birthday, and he is stoked!
After a quick nap we walked up to the square to go out to eat at our favorite Mexican place, La Parilla. It was delicious as always and we had a great time catching up. We had high hopes of playing board games when we got back, but ended up just going to sleep early!

Sunday morning we woke up and had a quick breakfast before Mrs. G headed on her way back to Apex, NC. Oh I forgot to mention that she also brought Raven, their black lab, and Tyson had a wonderful time having a friend to play with the whole weekend! (Raven's on the left)
Mr. G, Kyle and I headed out to the battlefield to go for a hike and let Tyson play in the creek there for a little while. We relaxed in the afternoon, then Kyle and I headed over to a dinner with some of our Newlywed friends. We had already had this planned, and luckily Mr. G was totally fine with us leaving for a couple hours. We met over at Ashlee & Benedikt's (he's German) apartment and had a great dinner & played Cranium afterwards. Here is our meal... Ashlee made the main dish, I brought hash brown casserole and Brandy brought a macaroni dish.

The guys ended up winning Cranium, but we had a great time!

We had a wonderful weekend and are so glad that the Guenthers could come down and see our home down here. Thanks again so much for coming!

Reversible Purses

I forgot to post a picture of the reversible purses that I made last weekend when Kyle was at the UGA game. I actually found these two fabrics from the Pottery Barn Outlet... they are just pillow cases that I liked! I bought the solid fabric for the insides from JoAnne's and made them following the pattern from Martha Stewart.com of course! I thought this pattern was neat, since the purse locks inside itself, to wear on the subway or someplace that's real crowded. I was going to use this for our next sewing get together, but the straps were a little difficult for beginners, so I might use something else. Still thought I would show them though!

Braves Game!

Last Thursday, Lacey invited us to go to a Braves Game with her... she had gotten the tickets from City Pub before she quit! So we all went and invited Taylor to come along as well. It was September 11th, so when they sang the National Anthem they had the bases lined with men and women in uniform... from firemen to marines.
As soon as they finished two fighter jets flew over... it was AMAZING!!! It was also $1 hotdog day, which is such a deal since normally they are around $7 for a hotdog! We had a great time and the Braves actually won!

Lacey had never been on the jumbo-tron before... well good thing she was with me b/c somehow I always seem to make it on! My favorite part of the whole game is when they are introducing the players before they go to bat, and they play the rap music. I always dance, even though it embarrasses Kyle a little bit :) Well of course I was doing my little rap dance moves and up runs the videographer. So I nudged Lacey to dance with me, and we both got on it! Fun fun fun!

Where we go... they go!

So Sara's post a couple weeks ago inspired me to introduce you to our animals, since we don't write about them that much. Sometimes the loyalty that our animals have towards Kyle & I amazes us. Let me start by introducing you to our 3 animals.

We have Puck (a black cat who would rather live his life as a dog),
Elle (the queen of the house...even Tyson is afraid of her),and Tyson (our 2 year old black lab).

Every morning I get out of bed first and the second that my foot hits the ground Tyson puts his head on our bed asking for permission to jump up and lay in my spot.

I get out of the shower most days to find this:

Tyson LOVES cuddling with daddy in the morning. He loves to lick Kyle all over, and then cuddle with him! My 2 adorable men in the morning:

And anytime I sit down, I have one or both of the cats on me... like so:

They all get along really well, and love each other:

Our cats are not afraid of people, and will always come out and greet/rub up on our guests, which I really like. Our animals add a lot to our lives and we love having them around :)

Stumbled Upon...

THIS!!!
My good friend, Lacey (who by the way started working with me 2 weeks ago and it is going so well!) showed me this site and I totally want to share it all with you. It is amazing and I can't believe I haven't heard about it until now.

So anyways it's www.stumbleupon.com and it's a site that basically shows you websites based on all your interests. As soon as you sign up, you check all these boxes that you are interested in and then it adds a plug in to your browser so you can press "stumble" and it will take you to a site about "music" or "art" or "website development" (okay those are some of my interests!). You can meet friends on here, and also save some of your favorite sites that you've found. It's a great way to see some wonderful things out on the world wide web!

Seperation Saturday

So this weekend is really nothing to talk about BUT this blog is a record of our lives so I'll post it :)

Friday night consisted of MOUNTASIA. What is that you might ask? MINI-PUT (as Molly puts it ;) . It was really fun, and we had a good time along with the other 5 year olds that were there. I ended up beating Kyle... just for the record :)

Saturday Kyle woke up at the crack of dawn to meet some other guys from our church to mountain bike over by Red Top Mountain. These guys all meet and do adventure races together, so Kyle is getting into that now with them and said the guys were all very nice. So that is COOL! He then rushed home to shower and change and leave for the UGA game that Tim gave him 4 tickets to! Of course he offered them to me, but I thought it would be a fun "guys outing" for him to do with some of his friends here in GA. So him and 3 other guys headed to Athens and arrived as "VIP" since Demelio had hook ups from his work too. They all tailgated in the AM750's radio station VIP tailgate and had the best time with some delicious food for free, which also included great parking! Then they went to the game and were in the 10th row on the goal line. It was Kyle's first UGA game and he had a blast.

I on the other hand woke up with one of my famous headaches so I spent most of the morning in bed :( BUT once my medicine kicked in I was able to clean our entire house, then walk up Kennesaw Mountain with Tyson for some exercise. I came back and tried our next sewing group project, the reversible purse from Martha Stewart's website of course :) So I was super excited about how much I was able to get done on Saturday too! When Kyle came home we ate some good dinner and then watched "What Happens in Vegas" with Ashton & Cameron... it was very cute.

Sunday, now I know this will come as a big surprise to you BUT I woke up with another one of my headaches so Kyle and I laid in bed till around 12 when it finally went away. We did go on the comet a little later for a bike ride and had some fun. Newlyweds started back up tonight, and we are super excited about this coming year and getting to know the new couples who are starting. So that was our boring weekend with no pictures (sorry!). Hope you all had great weekends as well!

Kyle:
1. Left Handed.
2. Over analyzes meaningless things.
3. Can tell majority of cars by their headlights.

Leah:
1. Has worst stomach on the earth. It gets upset constantly, even with food I've eaten the day before and had no problems with. It likes to be unpredictable so there is no way I can fix it.
2. Was obsessed with the pop group, Nsync... videotaped everything they were on... so sad.
3. Depends on her calendar for everything.
4. Hates shopping, and most importantly hates buying or wearing shoes.
5. Talks in her sleep every time she travels... never fails.
6. Has been pulled over 5 times, and never once gotten a ticket :)

Labor Day Weekend in Hilton Head

After an impossible offer to pass up from Molly, Marshal, Kelly (Molly's sister) and Adam (Kelly's boyfriend) to go to Hilton Head with them for a FREE beach weekend... Kyle and I accepted! We have been so excited since this was our first time heading to the beach since our Honeymoon! (almost 2 years ago!) It was such a relaxing and fun weekend... we had a blast!
We arrived Friday night around 7 (took us about 5 hours to get there) and immediately met up with the crew and went out for a delicious pizza dinner. It was known as the best pizza place on the island, and man was it! I ate 4 pieces!
We went back to the room and talked, played Apples to Apples, and then came Ipod Idol. Marshal is the KING and was making us laugh so hard... man his dance moves are SO unique ;) Oh did I mention that M&M and Kyle and I slept in the same room? We SO enjoyed our slumber party too! We also gave Marsh his birthday present... A LONG BOARD! Now him and Kyle truly are twins and spent the rest of the weekend going on long rides together.
Saturday morning the guys went for a run while Molly and I had some girl talk as always. We all then headed down to the beach for a whole day of sun... or so we thought! About an hour after being on the beach, Adam and Marshal decided to go play football in the ocean while Kyle and I walked up to the lobby to watch ASU get destroyed by LSU. (sad sad day). A second later we see Adam run out from the ocean and go to the lifeguards. A jellyfish you say? NOPE... A STINGRAY!
He pulled a barb out from the top of his foot, and a couple seconds later his entire leg was tingling, double the size, bleeding and bruising. It was insane. The lifeguards & everyone who worked there said to put his foot in boiling hot water for 45 minutes to get all the venom out... so we did BUT it was still hurting. Oddly he kept refusing to go to the ER, and finally all the guys came out and told us why. They had planned ahead and booked a private catamaran sunset ride for the 6 of us! We couldn't believe it.

We all took turns going to the front "trampoline" where we could see water underneath us... really nice!

The whole group with our captain, Rick!They had ordered food from Publix, booked the sunset cruise and before we knew it we were all on our private sailboat for 3 hours! We had the best time, and being on a boat with no motor was so relaxing just hearing the sound of the water!

Afterwards we headed to the Salty Dog Shopping Center... famous for the Salty Dog Cafe and Shops. We hung out there for a couple hours then headed to bed after an exhausting day!

Sunday morning, Molly & Marshal and Adam & Kelly had to go get the "timeshare talk". Kyle and I are very experienced in these since my parents have a timeshare. They gave us this free weekend and in return you go hear a sales pitch for an hour. Well since Kyle and I were let off the hook on this one, we decided to go for a long bike ride! One thing that Hilton Head is famous for are all the trails that go all around the city, perfect for bike riding! We had the best time! We met Molly & Marshal for a brunch around 10:30, while Adam and Kelly went to Urgent Care to get his foot checked out. Turns out he was put on steroids and antibiotics... poor guy!

We all met up at the pool of the resort around lunchtime and hung out in the sun the rest of the day. The resort even had a string of hammocks that were SO relaxing... Kyle and I fell asleep on one as soon as we layed down on it! Sunday night we went out for Marshal's 28th birthday (it was Monday) to a DELICIOUS seafood restaurant on the water. We had a great time, all of us getting meals too huge for any of us to finish.
Monday morning we woke up and Molly, Marshal, Kyle and I went on another bike ride around the neighborhoods and to a bagel place. Marshal and Kyle are the biggest kids, pushing themselves to the limits on how normal people should ride bikes! We all met Adam and Kelly back at the pool for an hour or so then headed back home to ATL.

Thank you all so much for inviting Kyle and I to come. We had the best time, relaxing in the sun with great friends!
