I'm so behind on Emery's 18 month update, I thought I would just skip ahead and do a 19 month update instead! Kyle and I still can't believe we have a toddler running around, who's now over a year and a half old... where is the time going?!
The last pediatrician's appointment we went to was on 9/27 (she was 18 months and 9 days) and here were her stats:
Weight: 24 lbs (67.51%)
Height: 32.75 inches (77.32%)
Head Circumference: 19 inches (92.29%)
PERSONALITY!
We love this little spunky, talkative girl! Around strangers or large crowds she is very shy, doesn't say a word and often clings to our legs. But for the people that she knows, she talks constantly and runs around squealing she's so happy. She laughs all the time and never has a problem communicating with us what she wants. She pushes the limits to see what she can get away with sometimes, but really is a good listener with an obedient heart. She is so girly, almost always having necklaces on (thank you Dollar Tree!) and hating it when dirt gets on her hands. She immediately says "Oh Nooooo" when things fall over and hurries to put them back in their spots.
She adores Minnie Mouse, Bags and pushing her baby doll around in her stroller. I can't believe what a "mom" she's becoming carrying around her babies and giving them her paci and sips of her milk! She'll tell me "shhhh" with her finger over her mouth when baby is sleeping... I think she learned that trick from Grandma's visit!
She loves to give kisses and hugs to Kyle and I, and lays her head on us to show us affection too. Can't get enough of this sweet girl.
PLAYTIME!
Emery really enjoys any toy now and they will hold her attention for long periods of time, especially if I'm playing with her. A couple months ago she really loved to stack blocks and did it ALL THE TIME. I couldn't believe how high she was able to stack them on her own!
But now her latest love is with sorting, which is so fun especially since nothing goes in her mouth anymore! I put rice in a cookie pan and hid sparkly jewels all throughout. Without even showing her what to do, she immediately started digging for the jewels, and shook them off one by one before putting them in a nearby bowl.

Kyle and I looked over at Emery's tray during dinner one night and she had sorted all of her mixed vegetables into separate piles before eating them. Peas in one corner, corn in the middle and carrots in the other corner... hilarious. She also loves the Little People toys right now (Noah's arc, zoo, dollhouse -- thanks Tara!).
She LOVES playgrounds, especially slides. We are really going to miss going to them every day when it gets colder outside. Peek a boo is still a favorite, along with Ring around the Rosie and London Bridge.
She also loves balance beams, so we set them up around the house from time to time!
SLEEPING!
Emery is still taking one nap a day, normally from 12:30 to 2:30. She wakes up in the morning around 6:45 or 7, and goes to bed at 7:00 pm. She's fine staying up later if she needs to though, which is nice to have a flexible schedule on busy days! She still sleeps with her paci, goldie and blankie and loves cuddling with them all as she falls asleep on her tummy. When we travel she has a hard time sleeping all the way through the night without waking up and we aren't sure if it's the pack n play or what. Just makes us appreciate being home :)
EATING!
Em is still a wonderful eater, and we are so thankful! She eats almost everything we eat (except for casseroles with ingredients really mixed together) and does so without complaining. Fruits are still by her favorite as she would eat an entire bowl of blue berries and raspberries in one sitting if we let her.
She also loves pasta, toast, cheese, turkey slices, chicken, peas, raisins, pretzels and pineapple... and will rarely ever turn down any of those! However, if we are at a friends house with new toys Emery has absolutely no desire to eat and would so much rather play! BUT the second we walk into our house she runs to the refrigerator asking for food, haha. There is no doubt about it, she's addicted to milk and that's the first thing she asks for whenshe wakes up in the morning and from naps. She just drinks a lot of milk and water in general and we haven't introduced her to any kind of juice yet (holding off on that as long as we can!).
VIDEO! I tried to catch some of Emery's new/funny things on video over the past couple weeks, but of course they are all from my phone. Next update I promise I will use our real video camera but for now I'm really proud of myself for even compiling a video! WAHOO! Here are the highlights: - Emery spelling out her name (repeating after us) - Sings and talks constantly in her own babble language - Saying "Oh No" after she purposely dumps out baby from stroller - Loving the big kid slide - Loves to sing songs with us and finish with correct words to about 5 songs now. This is my favorite video that I've taken in such a long time... so sweet! - Starting to play pretend with us - Singing Happy Plate - Sweet dance moves - Addicted to Minnie Mouse - Is now putting two words together like "hold you", "shirt down" (she does NOT like having her sleeves up!), "Emry seat" - Hilarious way of how Emery reads... keeping the pages down with her legs - I just pressed the record button and away Emery went :) - Repeating ABC's - Contagious giggles
RANDOMS!
- Em absolutely loves taking turns. She'll say "Emry" then do whatever it is. Then she'll say "Dada" and wait for him to do it, etc. So cute. - Emery started learning shapes not too long ago and can now point out & tell us when she sees circles and hearts.
- She really loves to carry around crayons, but not so much draw with them.
- Emery loves to say colors "bue, red, pink, gree, oran" but doesn't always match the right color with the right word yet. - Loves to walk around on her tip toes as a trick and has really good balance staying up there no problem!
- When Emery counts, numbers 1-4 are all "two" and then starting with the number 5 she starts saying them correctly. It's hilarious.
- She's currently in size 5 shoe and about to go completely into size 5 diapers (we are trying to use up all of our size 4's). She's right on track with clothing as well and is fitting in 18-24 month clothes.
- She normally "jumps" going from one foot to the other but a more recently both of her feet leave the floor and she gets this scared look on her face like "WHAT on earth just happened?!" - She's turning into such a little helper. Loves helping us unpack groceries into the pantry & refrigerator and set the table.
- She still loves to "fly", and I can't take enough in the air shots of her cuteness!
- Up until a week ago, Emery only had 6 teeth, but she just got one more up top this past week. So we have 7 now. Emery still runs a high fever and is completely miserable when teeth are coming in. Teething is no fun!
- Emery absolutely loves "Bubba" and checks to make sure he's in the
room with us constantly. She runs to our pantry and says "treat" to see
if she can feed him puppy biscuits. She pets him all the time and even sits on him when watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse if he's in the right position :)

Don't let the horrible picture fool you, we make these recipes at leastonce a month in our house asthey are so delicious and perfect for the colder months! My sister shared them with us last year and I'm now selfishly posting them on our blog so I'll be able to find them faster. Hope you enjoy!
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts
2 cans black beans, undrained (can use low sodium)
2 cans stewed tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1 cup salsa
Directions: Pour ingredients into crock pot. Cook 8 hours on low. Garnish with cheese, tortilla chips and sour cream. Thank you, Brooke, for sharing this with us!
Cornbread
Ingredients:
2 boxes Jiffy corn muffin mix
1/2 cup oil
1 can cream style corn
3 eggs
8 oz. sour cream
1 tsp. salt
Directions: Mix together by hand and pour into 9 x13 greased baking dish. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. (Yes I took this picture outside... it was too dark in our house!) Thank you, Kim, for sharing this with us!
Last Saturday, we headed to South Charlotte to celebrate Addyson turning 4! Addyson is my cousinSarah's daughter, and we are so excited to live in the same town as them! The party was rainbow themed, and oh my goodness every detail was executed perfectly!
When we got there they had a table set up for all the kids to make necklaces out of different colored noodles... Emery of course loved hers!
All the food was rainbow colored and delicious!
They even had a photo booth set up with fun props... so fun!
Poor Emery was trying to be a good sport even though she was running a fever from teething that day!
Time to pin the Pot O' Gold on the Rainbow! Natalie and Nathan gave it a shot! Singing & CAKE! Sarah made the whole thing from scratch, look at those colors!! I love it! Grandpa reading to all the kiddos:

Happy Birthday sweet Addyson! We loved getting to celebrate with you!
The family time continues! This past weekend my family came in town to celebrate Addyson's 4th birthday (post coming tomorrow!) so we had every one come and stay with us. It was a whirlwind of a weekend with lots of things to rush around to, but we did manage to take a few pictures of our time together!
There is an awesome new park very close to us with a playground disguised as a tree, all the kiddos loved it!
