5 Year Anniversary Celebration

We actually spent our 5 year anniversary (December 16th) driving home to Raleigh... so romantic I know!  BUT my mom and sister had already volunteered to babysit Emery when we got into town so that we would be able to go out on an official date to celebrate.  It was our first date since Emery had been born! WOAH a little overdue.

Kyle's family had given me a melting pot gift certificate in July for my birthday, and I immediately tucked it away knowing we could use it for our anniversary.  Melting pot never disappoints, and we had the best time eating over a span of 2 hours... which would absolutely never happen with Emery!  We had to keep reminding ourselves to not scarf down the food :)
We said if we ever go again we are skipping the salad and the meat and just doing cheese, dessert and cheese again :)
At the end of our meal, our waiter came sang to us "Y'all gonna have a good time tonight... let's celebrate.. it's alright.. it's alright... HEYYYY... Y'all gonna have a..." SO LOUD that the entire section where we were sitting had no choice but to watch us.  It was hilarious!

After the meal we headed to the movies to watch New Years Eve.  It was very cute and such a fun night out just the two of us.  Here is a picture we snapped in the theater:

Thank you to Tara, Mom and Grandma for watching Emery for us. We had the best night out celebrating 5 years of marriage!

Product Love (6-9 months)

I wanted to keep up with our favorite products for 6-9 months like we did here for 3-6 months and here for 0-3 months.  So in no particular order here they are!

1) Walker.  I'm not sure if people are using these as much now but Emery LOVES hers.  She can play hide and seek with us, explore our first floor independently, or follow the animals around!  She normally walks around while I cook dinner. Thank you again Tara for letting us have yours!

2) Mash & Serve Bowl.  I love this bowl!  Works great for mashing up avocado and bananas, then serving it straight from the same bowl.

3) Fresh Baby So Easy Baby Food Trays.
T
hese are my absolute favorite trays to put Emery's baby food in after I make it. The lids stay on so no freezer burn, and I love the size of the cubes.
4) Floor Mirror.  Emery still does not love tummy time, but we've found if she can look at herself in the mirror she will stay on it longer.  Our mirror can also velcro onto her crib which I like, but I do wish it was a little more heavy duty to where she just can't pick it up off the floor and roll on her back to look at it.

5) Skoy Cloths. We use these cloths to wipe Emery's face after every meal.  They are AWESOME.  It's a paper towel alternative, you just rinse them with soap after every use. They are super soft for Em's face, and actually work better getting the food off than paper towels!

6) Puffs and Take & Toss bowls!  Man puffs really do save the day when you have a fussy baby in the middle of dinner!  Emery loves them and I love how she practices her pincer grasp every time she reaches for one.  I also really like the take and toss bowls too with lids to keep the puffs contained in the diaper bag!

7) Bendy Ball.
I love how easy this ball is for Emery to pick up.  Plus with the rattle ball inside she loves to shake it and "inch" after it if it rolls away.

8) My Little People lift-the-flap play books.  My sister just gave us some of these books and I love them.  Any kind of interactive book entertains Emery.

9) The Sassy Feeder.  We actually have only used this with ice cubes inside, and Emery loves it.  I think it helps her gums feel better (who knows when she'll actually get teeth!).  I want to try it with blue berries and other yummies in there at some point in the future.

10) Vics Vapo Rub, Nose Sucker, and Humidifier. Since Em has gotten sick a couple times over this 6-9 month span we have learned to LOVE these things.  We rub Vics Vapo on the soles of her feet at bedtime before putting her footed PJ's on.  It really helps clear up her nostrils and let her breathe.  It's amazing how much snot you can get with the nose sucker as well... if you have a baby that likes to sleep with a paci then this is a must.  Poor things cannot breathe trying to suck their paci if their nose is stuffy!  The best one we've found is by far the one the hospital gives you.

11) Shopping Cart Cover. We love ours and use it every time we bring Em out, whether it's sitting in the shopping cart or a high chair at a restaurant.  There are hooks for toys and paci clips too which are great.
12) Kiddopotamus Placemat. Favorite place mat to bring for Emery when we eat out.  Covers the area of the table right in front of her, and love the material it's made out of.  It bends and fits into my diaper bag no problem, and suctions to the table wonderfully!

13) Pouch Organic Baby Food. We normally use Ella's Organic Baby food when we travel as it was just too difficult to make it to our destination without my homemade food melting and in turn going bad. Emery loves it, and another plus about it is that it comes in a pouch!  Emery loves to put her mouth right up on the spout and eat the food straight from it, no dishes involved!
My friend, Sara, showed me a spoon that actually attaches to the baby food pouches and the food squirts right into the spoon.  She said it works great when you are out and about and don't want to have to clean up dishes! Very cool, we'll have to try it!

Alright I could keep going but I'm going to stop here! Do y'all have any different favorites that weren't on our list?

Emery turns 9 months old!

Emery turned 9 months old on December 8th!  This month has been so much fun, and Emery continues to amaze us with how quickly she grows on a daily basis.  Oh, we are so in love with this little girl!  Kyle did bring her to the pediatrician for her 9 month appointment (I was sick unfortunately) so here are her stats.
Height: 28 inches (64%)
Weight: 18 pounds (33%)
Head Circumference: 18 inches (90%)

PERSONALITY!
Emery is such a happy girl.  She loves to sit and take in everything around her, babble at anything that moves (mainly "da da" is her sound of choice these days), and give Kyle and I the biggest scrunchy-nosed smiles that completely melt our hearts.
She squeals and kicks her legs with all her might when she gets really excited and she waves all day long. (It's SO cute when she waves to Tyson!)

EATING!
Emery is still nursing from me (maybe about 4 ounces per feeding?!) then eating solids afterward.  She loves baby food, and will eat any kind but does favor fruits more than vegetables.  Avocados (mixed with a little breast milk) have now become one of her favorites, yeah for brain food!  She has started mimicking our "All Done" signs when she is full, which is so neat to see her starting to communicate with us.
Emery is still going 4 hours between each feeding (7 to 7:30 am, 12 pm, 4 pm) and one last feeding at 7 pm, then down for bed.  We still do oatmeal with fruit and breast milk mixed in after the morning feeding, then pureed baby food after the others.  Oh this girl loves her eating schedule, and so do we!

PLAYTIME!
Emery still is not "crawling" but has started to army crawl to get to things.  She still pushes mainly with her feet and rolls from side to side stretching out her arms to reach certain things.  It is a lot of work on her part, but she moves!
She loves to try to stand up these days and play at her activity table, but only manages about 30 seconds upright before falling.  She absolutely loves to hold our fingers and pull up to standing on her own, so big!
She loves to talk to herself in the mirror and it has actually helped her stay on her tummy for longer periods of time.  It seems like she's starting to enjoy playing on her stomach some now, and we are hoping this will help her take some steps towards crawling.

SLEEPING!
Her naps are still really consistent, about 1.5 to 2 hours in the morning and afternoon.  She is sleeping through the night now going from 7 pm to 7 or 7:30 am. Oh it's amazing!  If she does wake up in the night it's around 5:30 to eat, then she'll go back down until 8ish. She is still doing great in the car, not fighting sleep like she used to.  Although her naps are not nearly as long in the car seat as they are in her crib, lasting about an hour instead of the normal 2 hours.

RANDOMS!
- We introduced the sippy cup this month and she loves it!  She only drinks a couple gulps of water at a time then puts it down, but it's a start.
She got the hang of holding the handles really quickly!
- She still has NO TEETH!  I am not complaining about that at all; no biting me, no drooling, no low grade fever, and no whining yet!  This is her super excited toothless grin!

- She absolutely loves her walker and the excersaucer. She is getting really FAST in the walker and loves being independent and walking where she wants to go.
- Emery found a Christmas tree that was just her size!  We are looking forward to celebrating her first Christmas in just a couple weeks!

Okay here are my iphone pics for the month:
Happy 9 months sweet Emery Katherine, we love you more than words can say!

Office Christmas Party

A couple weeks ago, KA hosted an office Christmas party for the employees and their spouses/significant others!  It was fun to get dressed up and spend time with everyone outside work.  The 1818 Club served delicious food and of course there were some fun activities going on while we were there.
Jen (& Baby Max!), Lacey and I:
Brooke, Holly, Keisha and I:
They had a game of Jeopardy... Amanda, one of our product designers, won!
Jennifer read her annual poem of "The Night before Christmas" where she includes every employees name and fun tidbits about everyone:
The week prior to the party, every toy we brought in for Toys for Tots entered us in the drawing for an ipad 2 (up to 6 gifts).  A great way to get everyone to participate, Holly ended up winning:
It was a fun night out with the hubby!

ASU vs. UNC game

Last Saturday night, my brother was able to get 4 tickets to the ASU vs. UNC game!  We called it "ladies night" as he took my mom, my grandma and I to the game. I am proud to say that App played pretty well and didn't lose by THAT many points!  It was really fun to spend time with my family and go to a game in the Dean Dome.
Nick, Mom and Grandma:
In all fairness, Mom wore her UNC sweatshirt with her APP t-shirt underneath.  Can't choose favorites!
Thank you again Nick for bringing us!  What a fun night!
