Date Night!

Kyle and I have decided to go out on a date night, one night every month! SO I surprised Kyle by planning the entire night, just told him what time to be ready and what to wear :)
We started the night off with going to a Tapas Bar called Noche, in the Virginia Highlands area. Neither of us had been to it, and it was SOOOO good. The Highlands has such a cool atmosphere with really neat restaurants/shops filling the streets. I had made a reservation for 7:30, so even though there was a line outside the door, we walked in front of everyone and sat down! We ordered 5 tapas: Queso & chips (amazing!), calamari (another amazing one!), bbq chicken pizza, lobster tacos (so good!), and skirt steak -- all with a southwestern taste. They all ranged from $4-$9 each, so we ended up getting a lot of food for not too much money! We had such a great time at dinner!! Noche, is part of the "Here to Serve" Restaurants, that are owned by the same people as Twist & Shout (2 other of our favorite restaurants here!)
The second half of the night took place at the Fern Bank Museum, about 2 miles away from the restaurant! Every Friday the museum hosts Martini's and Imax and it's SUCH a cool atmosphere. I had been before, but had to bring Kyle since I knew how much he would love it!
We went to will call and picked up our pre-ordered movie tickets, to see Journey of a Man at 10:00. We had about an hour to sit underneath the Dinosaur bones and listen to the live music!
My camera doesn't capture how cool it is, but I tried:
There are 3 levels of exhibits, which is very cool in itself! The architecture in this place is amazing, here is the ceiling:
While we were waiting in line for our movie, we ran into some of my girlfriends from work! They went to a 9:00 showing of Greatest Places... we might have to go back to see that one!

Our movie was SO cool, as it's called Journey of a Man and it's acted out by Cirque du Soleil!!! Kyle and I caught ourselves being unbelievably shocked at the strength of these people and their balance. It got us so excited for our next date night which will be Valentines Day to go see the Cirque du Soleil show - Kooza live in Atlantic Station!!
So all in all Kyle gives the date night that I planned... a HUGE thumbs up:)

Dinner with Ash!

My good friend, Ashley, (who I met up at App and now lives in Charlotte) had to come in town for business this week, and decided to arrive a little early to spend some time with me! It was wonderful to catch up with her in person and show her around our house & the Square. We went to Marietta Pizza Company for dinner then came back and talked some more! It was so great to see you Ash, come again soon!!

ATL weekend with M&M

This weekend we had a great time with our friends Molly & Marshal. They were able to leave Charlotte early so they arrived in ATL around 7:00! We all had some dinner (our first time cooking dinner for them, normally we go out to Mexican ALWAYS) and played cards while we all caught up with one another.

Saturday started off with YOGA! Kyle and I are doing P90X right now, which is 90 days straight of different workouts with these dvds. Molly & Marshal were such good sports doing it with us!! haha it was hilarious and so extreme... we are all so sore!
The guys then headed to go mountain biking (how did they have energy? Molly & I could barely walk afterwards?!), and Chris came along with them as well. Kyle had a great time with his two good friends in the outdoors :) Go team go - Marsh:
While they were gone Molly & I hunkered down to get all of the designs for her wedding invitations done! They turned out perfect, and I was so glad to help Molly check some items off on her wedding list!
Saturday night we headed to LA PARILLA, and all had the famous Burrito a la Parilla! We all left stuffed as usual and came back to play some DOMINOS! M&M are now officially hooked on that game too :) Somewhere in the process Kyle got slimed :Sunday morning we all woke up and had some home made waffles...YUM! Ky & I cooking:
M&M had to leave around 11, so we visited for a little while and then helped them pack up! Of course the dogs were so sad to leave one another, since they played tug of war ALL weekend long... and were in heaven:Marsh & Tyso:
Sunday night Kyle and I headed to Brandy & Pauls house to meet 2 new couples in our newlyweds class. We had dinner with everyone and then played Apples to Apples. We had a wonderful weekend needless to say!!! Thanks again for making the trip M&M!

Soreness Update

I know that this is top of mind for all of you(haha), so I figured I would give you an update on the squat challenge that DJ and I took on Saturday night. My cousin Ray said that I would "...be laid up on the couch all day and would be forced to crawl anywhere that I wanted to go." I am happy to report, that was not the case. I was very sore, but I was still able to take my mountain bike out for about a 6 mile trail ride. I wasn't able to ride nearly as hard as I wanted to, but I got it done. I also ran some errands, scrored some sweet deals at the REI scratch and dent sale and was able to get a couple of small maintenance issues taken care of with Leah's car. So, now I ask myself, "In hindsight, was the squat challenge a good idea?" and the answer is "NO", but I feel that it is my duty to pass this challenge on to some unsuspecting sucker when the time is right.

Pop turns 96!

This past weekend we drove to Cary, NC to celebrate Pop’s 96th Birthday! We arrived Friday night around 1:30 am and crashed at Kerry & Brads house. We all got the chance to sleep in and relax before heading over to the Guenthers house. Mr. G’s whole family came in town from CA, AZ and NJ: Herbie (his brother), Barbara (his sister), and Tommy, Raymond and DJ (Barbara’s kids). We had a good time catching up before we all headed to the party at their neighborhood clubhouse at 6:00!
Uncle Herbie, Mr. G, Pop & Aunt Barbara:
We had an Italian restaurant cater the event, and the food was delicious.
Birthday boy blowing out his candles:
Rachel made a slideshow with pictures of Pop over the past 6 years, since he’s been living with the Guenthers in NC. Everyone loved it, including Pop which was great. My parents were able to come, along with Brad’s parents, and some other good family friends. It was so nice of everyone to come out and help us celebrate.
Here is the whole family on Mr. Guenthers side that came out for the party:

After the party we headed back to Kerry & Brads house to hang out more with the cousins and friends. Some of Ky’s hockey buddies from ASU came over to hang out as well, Bobby & Lara, and Mike.
Ky, Bobby, Lara & I:
There were two very strange events of the night. The first when Kyle and DJ decided to have a squat competition, and the second when Mike decided to play tug of war with Tyson… holding onto the plastic bottle with his teeth!!! All in all, it was a great hilarious night spent with family and friends!
The squat competition:
Sunday morning we woke up and all met for brunch at the chop house. Unfortunately our waiter wasn’t the best (making fresh squeezed lemonade for me in the back, instead of bringing our meals out?!?! And NO I didn’t ask for it) but we still had a great time catching up and celebrating birthdays.
BTW incase you were wondering, OF COURSE Kyle and DJ were pretty sore from the squat competition… haha:
Happy 96th Pop! We love you!

Last night we had a great girls night to go eat some Boston Market and see the movie Bride Wars. It was super cute and hilarious-- we had a wonderful time! There are a lot of girly movies coming out soon, so we'll have a ton of girls nights in February!
And of course we took photos like the brides.

Snowboarding weekend in Boone!

This past weekend we traveled to Boonetown for our first official weekend as owners of the cabin! Our friends, Cory & Mada, came to spend the weekend with us as well and we had a great time together. Friday night Kyle and I arrived a little ahead of time and ate some Black Cat and went grocery shopping. By then Cory & Mada had arrived, and we all just hung out and talked until bed. Saturday morning we woke up to Cory & Kyle making us breakfast before we all headed out to go snowboarding! Unfortunately Mada had strained her neck in Yoga this past week, so she couldn't come but she still watched us from inside the lodge at Sugar! We snowboarded from 9 till around 3, then headed home to shower and relax. The slopes weren't too crowded, which made it nice for the 3 of us not having to wait in lift lines.
We all took showers and then headed out to Mellow Mushroom for some yummy pizza. We came back to the cabin, watched the Panthers game then we introduced them to Dominos!! They are just as addicted as we are now, and are planning on buying their own set when they get home.
Mada and I baked tons of cookies for our snack while playing the game!
Sunday morning we all slept in and had a yummy pancake breakfast.
We packed, cleaned a little then headed home to get ready for the work week. What a great relaxing time we had, can't wait to go up again soon!
Thanks again for coming Cory & Mada!
