New Chandelier!

One of the last items in our house that was still a brass finish was our foyer chandelier.  Kyle couldn't wait to replace it and we finally found a good deal on a new one in oil rubbed bronze to match the rest of our house.  Since our foyer is two story we didn't have a ladder tall enough so we rented a large one from Home Depot for the job.

Strawberry Picking!

Our first outing with Will was to go strawberry picking!  My family makes the best strawberry pie (if you haven't made it yet-- click here for the recipe) and it's a must to make in the summer!  Mom and Emery were going to go just the two of them but I'm really glad Will and I tagged along!

Downstairs Bathroom-- Floor & Vanity Overhaul!

I have so many posts to do about all of our house projects we completed before Will was born!  First up, is our downstairs bathroom.  When we first moved into the house we replaced all the vinyl flooring with new tile in the bathrooms and laundry room.... but the master bath and downstairs bath already had tile so we didn't replace.  As we started fixing up the house it was obvious that we needed to replace the old tile though as the grout wouldn't come clean and it was cracking away from the walls.  You can see what I'm talking about here:

First up was replacing the vanity top with the new marble that we had installed in the kitchen (that post coming soon!).  We also had the painter also paint the vanity cabinet in the bathroom as well a grey/white color to match.  Here is a picture showing the new countertop:

We opted to not do the tile floors ourselves so we could guarantee this project would be done before baby Will was born... it was seriously such a treat for it to be done so quickly.  See ya gross tile:

We went with a tile from Home Depot that looks like slate.  Love the rectangles instead of normal square tiles.  Here is the tile installation half way:

And the finished floors!  WE LOVE THEM!

So here is a before and after from when we moved in... pretty different!  Now since we are going with the grey/white theme in the bathroom we have to repaint the walls-- we'll get to that eventually!

Will's first Boone trip!

We couldn't wait to go up to Boone with just our family to enjoy some mountain air and Boone in the summertime!  Will was only 2 weeks old but we figured if we have to be in quarantine for 6-8 weeks with a newborn to be farther away from germs, why not be quarantined in Boone!

We had wonderful weather the entire time, and Emery is always on cloud nine when we are there.  She just might be an Appalachian girl herself one day :)  Eating Black Cat, hiking Rich Mtn, picnic lunches, driving on the parkway, Blowing Rock playgrounds, ice-cream and enjoying relaxing at the cabin = perfect weekend in our books!

Poor Will had horrible baby acne around week 2... just like Emery did!

Will's 1st Sponge Bath & Mother's Day!

Mother's Day was the following Sunday after we got home from the hospital, which was really special to be a Mother of two kiddos this year!  Kyle and Emery woke up early to make Mom and I Monkey Bread for breakfast!  Kyle had never made it by himself before so we ended up calling it "gorilla bread" as he used larger rolls and it was exploding out of the bundt pan... but we aren't complaining-- it was gooooood!

We spent the day hanging around the house, watching Emery play in the baby pool outside and loving on Will.  

That night my Mom and I tackled Will's first sponge bath while Emery and Kyle made us a delicious dinner.  For the most part, Will did great and just needed to get used to the water.  He is totally a water baby though and now doesn't even say a peep during his baths!

Kyle had picked up one of Earth Fare's deals-- $9 for steak and lobster... YUM.  Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our Mother's Day meal!

And Emery then brought out dessert: cookies they had made & decorated!

So special being a Mother of TWO this Mother's Day and very thankful to be able to have spent the day with my Mom letting her know how much she means to me!  Great day!
