Emery turned 4 months on July 8th. It's obvious I've started back to work full time, by how behind I am with her monthly update! She's such a big girl, learning new "tricks" everyday and continuing to melt our hearts with her smiles and babbles.
She did great at the Pediatrician, even fell asleep again while we were waiting for the doctor to come in! She got her second round of shots this appointment, and they ended up knocking her out for the rest of the day. She's keeping her curve on the growth chart perfectly. Here are her stats:
Height: 26 inches 97%
Head Circumference: 75%
Weight: 14 pounds, 1 ounce 75%
PERSONALITY!
She is SUCH a talker, that is by far her favorite thing to do! Besides talking, she is content just hanging out, watching what everyone is doing around her. We love our little laid back baby :)
SLEEP!
Oh sleeping completely through the night-- we miss you! Soon after Emery turned 3 months, she started waking up once or twice a night (around 2:45 or 3:30 am) a little startled, wanting comfort from us and/or her pacifier. We normally can walk in the nursery half asleep, give her the paci then go right back to sleep, but it still counts to us as waking up in the night. She is not interested in feeding at all during those times and is still going till 5:30 or 6 am to eat, which I am happy about! I hope this is just a phase and that she begins to sleep from 9 pm to 6 am straight again soon!
She is a routine baby and I love it! This was her napping schedule: 10:30-11:00, 12-1, 3-5, 7:30-8:30. Towards the end of the month we finally broke her of her catnap in the morning and she sleeps straight from 11-1 now. Unfortunately, the "45 minute intruder" (as Babywise calls it) is something we are still dealing with during most of her naps. Like clockwork, she wakes up 45 minutes into her nap (when she's switching from a light to deep sleep), but she'll always go back down to sleep after getting her pacifier again and sometimes a couple minutes of rocking. I still can't believe the first 2 months she really didn't take naps, as now it's a huge part of her day!
The only other new thing that happened with her "sleep" was that she started to only want to be put to sleep by me. At night, Kyle used to always put her down, but this past month she would scream until he handed her to me. Luckily it only lasted a couple of weeks, and we think it might have been that she wasn't feeling good from the acid reflux and wanted comfort from her momma :)
She started waking up around 4:00 am, week 14, and has continued to wake up around that time since then. She is not hungry but rather needs her paci to go back to sleep. She still LOVES the swaddle and has a hard time going to sleep if she's not confined like that. We did start letting her take some of her naps on the boppy pillow which helped a TON with her acid reflux. She slept like a charm most days because of that trick (thank you Jeneane!).
EATING!
We are still on a 4 hour feeding schedule and loving it! She's such a great eater and is still solely on breast milk. For her acid reflux, we have moved to 1.5 ml of Axid in the morning and night as she was gaining weight the other medicines seemed to not help as much as they once did. She still spits up but does not seem to be in pain when she does! She eats great from the bottle when I have to go into work and switches back and forth no problem. I think she's eating around 5 ounces every feeding (impossible to truly know!), and averages about 10 minutes on each side.
PLAYTIME!
Playtime is still my favorite part of our day. She absolutely loves kicking on her back on the play mat and talking away. Tummy time is pretty non existent these days as every time I put her on her tummy she rolls over to her back immediately! This month she preferred to roll over to her left, by using her head to lead the rest of her body around.
RANDOMS:
- Her favorite place in the house is the changing table. She kicks like crazy and loves to talk on that thing!
- Around week 13 she really started making the raspberry noises! She gets spit all over her face when she makes the sound too.
- Around week 14 she hit a huge growth spurt and regressed back to eating every 3 hours during the day AND night. Luckily it only lasted 2 days!
- She still has her hands in her mouth all the time, but I can't feel any "nubs" yet!
- Still LOVES playing on her back and kicking away!
- She loves to grab hold of rattles or any toys that make noise.
- Talking about grabbing, she has found her feet!
- She rolled over for the first time on Father's Day (14 weeks old) from her stomach to back! By the end of this month anytime we put her on her tummy she immediately fips over. Videos are coming soon, but for now here are pictures to document!
- Around week 16 she started talking like a creaking door. It was so funny and I guess her way of exploring her voice!
- Week 17 we brought her back to the Pediatrician because she had blood in her stool, poor thing. She had around 4 anal fissures, so we were instructed to put an antibiotic cream on 3 times a day. It definitely worked and we haven't had any blood since!
- Her smiles are SO contagious. She gives Kyle and I the biggest smiles all the time. She also giggled for the first time when Ky blows on her tummy!
- Her neck is getting stronger! Sits up for a good 5 minutes in Bumbo before head gets tired.
-Not sure why but Kyle and I LOVE putting her in footed pjs... she's just such a cutie!
Here are my iphone pics for the month:
Who couldn't love this little girl?? Happy 4 months Em!
