Day 8!! Can I get a BOO-YAH??

LAST DAY OF "TIM THE TOOL-TIME-HAMMER WEEK"! Today was a half day since Mom & Dad had to head back to Raleigh. I still can't believe all the progress that was done in our house this week.... the pictures don't do it justice, it's truly incredible! Here was the most annoying piece of wood for Daddy-- good thing it's the last piece of crown molding needed for the room!

Our one car garage with added shelving for Kyle! Still pretty big inside, we don't even feel like we lost anything in the garage since we never pulled both cars inside of it!

DAY 7!!

DAY SEVEN OF "TIM THE TOOL-TIME-HAMMER WEEK"! Today was our last full day of working, since Mom & Dad are leaving tomorrow around lunch. I woke up and baked a monkey bread for breakfast. (This is a Baker staple, so if you haven't had it yet come on over!)

The guys got the shelving in the garage done for Kyle. It will be great to have more storage in our now one car garage!
The guys got to sanding.... Kyle really looks like a ghost. Even his eyelashes were white!
Finished all the trim on the doors. We matched the way all of our doors are in the house. (Craftsman style... makes the doors and windows look taller than they really are!)
One more piece of molding to put up... the toughest one! (The little connector between the one above the closet and the one above the bookshelves)
All the outlets are done!
Kyle & I went out and bought our First Christmas Tree as a married couple!!
End of the day... around 12:05 am. The guys are VERY tired, but the room looks SO good! You can see the can lights that they put up to shine on the bookshelves too!
Can't believe it's only been a week, and we have a whole new room in our house! As you can see Kyle is EXHAUSTED and so is Dad, they both worked so hard to get this done! The guys will finish up little things tomorrow and then leave the priming, painting, carpet, and knobs on the doors to Kyle & I.

DAY 6!!

DAY SIX OF "TIM THE TOOL-TIME-HAMMER WEEK"!! Well Mom & I finished painting the kitchen! The whole downstairs is finally painted and it's such a relief to have it done!

The guys started by moving the light fixture that was in the office to the garage, to help light the garage better. This project was only supposed to take a couple minutes, and in turn took an hour and a half with all the problems faced. It is finally done now though!
Next they put up the entry door to the office from the little foyer that is downstairs.
Next was crown molding around the whole room! Luckily, Chris was able to get us all of our molding and trim for less than half the selling price! THANK YOU CHRIS!
They also then put up the baseboard as well. Then came closing off the closet door with sheet rock and the doors!
And this is what the inside looks like:
After Mom & I finished painted, we decorated for Christmas. We have garland outside on our railings of the porch, and lots of decorations inside. We will search for a tree to put up tomorrow!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING -- Day 5!!

DAY FIVE OF "TIM THE TOOL-TIME-HAMMER WEEK" and also Thanksgiving :) Well this post will be all about the guys, since mom and I did nothing but cook and relax today!
This morning we all woke up and walked to the end of our street where the gobble jog was being held. Kyle and Chris both signed up to run this 5k, along with about 3,000 other people!

The rules actually allowed dogs to run it in as well, so Tyson and Kyle ran together! Tyson was actually the first dog to cross the finish line... GO TYSON!

After returning home, the men finished putting up the sheet rock over the closet door. They are waiting to put the back of the closet drywall up until the last minute, so they can walk straight through to the garage!
Next was to start "mudding", which is filling all the screw holes/cracks that were made in the sheet rock. It's a messy job and took a while to do.
The last goal that they wanted to get done today are the built-in bookshelves & cabinets. Here they are building the shelves for the bottom cabinets, they are going to be very deep and provide us with so much storage. (the doors for these will be put on last)
Next was building the top shelves. We are putting "beaded board" behind the shelves to match the look of the rest of our house. I think it will add a nice touch for sure!
And the finished product after today. This is looking at the bookshelves. They are both doing such a great job!!
We took a break around 2:00 to have our Thanksgiving meal. It was delicious, and everyone was stuffed afterwards! This was a very different Thanksgiving not being around all of our families, but we really appreciate everyone being so understanding about us not driving to Raleigh for it. Hope everyone had a wonderful day, there is truly so much to be thankful for!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from Nick in Bulgaria!

As most of you know, Nick and his best friend Win are traveling around Bulgaria. Here is the last e-mail we received from them!

Pops and crew,

All is well in Bulgaria! We went south for a few days into towns called Rila and Bansko, planning to see the monastery and mountains there. We ended up driving on this windy road up a mountain and found our way onto a ski resort, where we found the Bulgarian national ski and snowboard teams. We snapped some pics and wandered around the forest where it had just snowed probably 10-20 inches. It was really pretty and worth the drive down south to see this famous Pirin national forest that everyone always talks about.
Now we are back in Sofia at this sweet hostel, it is pretty funny how we ALMOST know our way around the city at this point. Tomorrow we head out for the city that we were originally trying to go to (before the big snowstorm hit). It has a huge fortress and a bunch of cool stuff so we are excited. We actually have a hostel booked there tomorrow night as well, I think it is the first time we have ever booked/planned something in advance (ever).

Day 4!!

DAY FOUR OF "TIM THE TOOL-TIME-HAMMER WEEK"!! To start off, our washer is fixed! I never took pictures so here they are!

The men put new baseboard in and fixed the leak

The past week Kyle & I have been building a cabinet to hold the litter and the cats food (since our cats are addicted to food and knock the container over in the middle of the night to eat)

Well today was a very productive day in the Guenther House! The guys got started this morning on getting the electrical part of our office.

Here they are fishing wires from our power box to our office.
Midway through Kyle lost his torso :)
Then the insillation was put in!
Then came the sheet rock!

So if the guys weren't productive enough, Mom & I had a busy day too! We first finished the walls in our family room, painting them the lighter shade of mocha. We then moved to the kitchen and painted the whole eat in kitchen area. I'll post pictures tomorrow when the daylight can show the real colors of the walls.

Day 3!!

DAY THREE OF "TIM THE TOOL-TIME-HAMMER WEEK"!! We woke up this morning and went for a long walk in the battlefield, up Kennesaw Mountain. It's about a 2.3 mile walk, and at the very top it has a gorgeous view of Marietta, and in the distance you can see the Atlanta skyline. My camera didn't really catch it, but it was a beautiful morning to spend outside.

We came back home around 10:00 and started working on the house! Dad finished (Kyle took a half day at work) framing out the other bookcase and the furring strips...

and then the door to the room...
Mom & I had a VERY productive day! We started by painting the half bathroom the same color as the dining room, since they are attached. I am very happy with the color! (The pictures don't do it justice, so you all will just have to visit Marietta to see the real thing!)

We then moved to the family room, and painted it a shade lighter than the dining room. When standing in the family room, you can see straight into the dining room so the colors needed to blend well together. We still have one more wall to finish in the family room, but I am really pleased with the colors!

We all then went to Home Depot and bought all the supplies for the men to prepare the room with wires to give power to all the outlets. They will finish that tomorrow morning!
Kyle & Dad also fixed our washer problems and put in new baseboard to fix! It will be great not having to worry about that anymore!
