Exploring Kure & South Port!

Being the only couple without a little baby combined with the fact that Emery wakes up early meant we were able to explore beach life outside our rental house more easily!  Kyle brought our bikes down with us and I'm so thankful he did... we went on bike rides almost every morning-- as you can tell Emery loved it as much as we did!

Based on numerous recommendations from friends we made our way one morning to Britt's Donuts.  Oh my goodness they were delicious and totally lived up to the hype.

After eating our donuts we walked on the beach and collected some shells together!

On another night, Brenda, Don, Em, Kyle and I went out to dinner together.  Food was a little expensive but good-- always love the treat of fresh seafood and Emery was soaking up individual Grammy and Poppa time!

And lastly, Kyle, Emery, and I took our bikes on the ferry over to South Port!  I'm so glad we did this as we had the best day exploring and eating DELICIOUS food!

We decided to eat at Yacht Basin Provision Company.  Best food ever and cheap too-- our kind of spot!

This was my meal... oh man I seriously want to go back there right now and eat those steamed shrimp again!

Afterwards we treated ourselves to ice cream right across the street... love this picture!

Thankful for great weather, an easy 2 year old that loves exploring as much as we do, and a husband who works so hard to make trips like this possible!  More pictures coming soon!

Our first family beach trip!

At the end of this past July we took Emery on her first beach vacation (yes I am SUPER late getting these pictures posted on our blog)!  We went to Kure Beach for an entire week with Kyle's whole family and we had the best time together.  I took so many pictures I'll have to break it up into numerous posts, so here we go!

Kerry & Brad found us a super deal on a house right on the beach, oh man it was so nice and had plenty of room for all of us to spread out inside!  We were able to check in Saturday afternoon and get all groceries unpacked.  Kerry & Brad broke up meals between all the families and it ended up working perfectly for all of us to bring our own groceries and cook meals every couple days for each other.  After getting settled we quickly changed the kiddos into their bathing suits as they were dying to play on the beach!  Look at those three cuties!

We are so blessed to have cousins so close in age on both sides of our families.  It was literally like we had triplets all week, as they had a blast together and are all into the same things! 

The rest of the week was spent enjoying the beautiful weather, good food and family time.  All of our monitors reached at the beach so the adults were able to enjoy some time together while the kiddos napped! Having a huge tent is CRUCIAL, and Emery's cheap umbrella & chair were the perfect set up for her too!

Fun Playdates!

We've had a couple fun play dates lately and I wanted to share the pictures!  We've gotten to see my cousin, Sarah, and her kiddos a couple times lately playing at their house!  Emery has a blast copying whatever Addyson does ha!

We've also headed to Shelby a couple times to spend the day with Lauren and Merrin!  I've actually been going to Matt for my dentistry work (how awesome is that!) and Lauren has graciously watched both girls during my appointment (we try to plan during nap times).

Since Merrin naps all afternoon like a little angel, Lauren and Emery got some great cuddle time until I got back home.  Thank you again Lauren!

Mom, Dad and Gigi stopped by our house on the way up to Boone one week.  They ended up staying the night to spend more time with us and we loved it-- especially Emery.  She cried when they left wanting to go to the cabin with them... one day sweetie, one day!

We also enjoyed the pool one last time with Cory, Mada and Katherine! So fun!

Date night: John Mayer concert!

On September 4th, John Mayer came to Charlotte in concert with Phil Phillips opening for him.  We had a great time as always and enjoyed sitting and watching all the band members jam for a couple hours.

Our favorite part was when the other band members left the stage and John took requests from the audience.  He sang "Back to You" which will always be one of our songs and it was funny seeing him try to remember lyrics and chords.  Great concert thank you again Ashley for making this possible!
