Over September 6th weekend, we were able to meet Nick & his girlfriend, Anne, up at the cabin in Boone! Unbelievably, Nick has never come up to the cabin unless it's for large family events so it was a real treat to show him how we normally spend our weekends up there!

Saturday morning, we woke up to beautiful weather and decided to hike from Boone Fork off the parkway up to Grandfather mountain which was about 7 miles round trip. Anne & Nick love hiking as well so we had the best time enjoying the views and spending the whole day outside!
We packed picnic lunches and ate while on the trail in this cool shelter:

Saturday night, we headed to Black Cat and then had a campfire back at the house. Sunday morning we headed to Valle Crucis park so Tyson could swim and Emery could have some playground time. Then picked up Ham Shoppe for lunch before all of us had to head our separate ways.
Such a fun weekend and we're so grateful to have had some quality time with Nick & Anne! CHEESE FACE!
Nick brought Em back some little prayer flags from his recent dental trip to Nepal-- can you tell she loves her uncle so much?
And lastly I have to share what we saw on our way out! We had heard rumors about a bear going through everyone's trash on our road and on Sunday we got to see him for ourselves! About two cabins down from ours he was enjoying a little snack from the neighbors' trash cans... our first time seeing a wild bear!
Lauren & I are always looking up places in between Shelby & Huntersville to meet and have play dates with our girls. We decided Chuck E. Cheese was the winner and had a great time introducing the girls to all the games & big mouse. As long as he was passing out free tickets they liked him and would give him high fives :)
