This is Kyle, I am getting hooked on this blog thing and I decided to take another crack at it. I didn't get tagged last week, so I am shamelessly tagging myself because I know you are all dying to read these fun facts about me!


Four jobs I have had in my life: (I'll narrow it down from the 30+ that I have had)
1. Omega Sports-this explains my addiction to running shoes
2. Farm hand at Fox Fire Farms-Cut grass, built stuff, took care of horses
3. Christmas tree farmer
4. Bullwinkle...yeah you read that right. I worked at this restaurant called Bullwinkles that was like an upscale chucky cheez and I wore an 8ft tall Bullwinkle costume and danced to Saturday night fever. I am so emotionally scarred from this job that it could be a post all on its own!

"Low Country Boil" -- Shelby & Charlotte Trip!

So this weekend, we traveled to Shelby, NC to attend a garden shower for Lauren called "Low Country Boil". The reason I put this phrase in quotes was because I had no idea this was a style of cooking, and instead thought it was the country way of saying "shower". (this cracked up everyone at the shower). It was hosted by a couple Shelby families, and was held in one of the families' barns that has been transformed into an apartment/gathering area. Everyone there was so nice and we had a great time visiting with new friends.

After the shower we headed over to see Lauren & Matt's house. Matt moved in a week ago, and Lauren will move in when they get back from their honeymoon. It is in a great neighborhood, big backyard and is a wonderful house for them to have a family in (at some point!).

We left pretty late, and headed to Charlotte to stay with Molly & Marshal. This morning we woke up & went to the Flying Biscuit for breakfast. Kyle and I have never been there before, and it was a very neat atmosphere and absolutely delicious. We all then took the dogs over to the new White Water Center to go for a hike. It was our first time going there as well, so M&M showed us all around (Marsh goes every weekend b/c he loves to kayak). We took about a 3 mile hike, and got the chance to catch up with each other and enjoy nature!

After the White Water Center, we headed out but stopped by our house in Charlotte that we were building when we switched our plans and moved to Atlanta. The neighborhood is all finished now, and it turned out very nice! The houses are SOO close together, but I know we would have had a great time living there!

Thanks so much Molly & Marshal for letting us come & spend the day with you guys! We will see you guys very soon, and are very excited!

5/10 weekend - K&L in ATL for Kyle's week/weekend 9-5 intensive course that counts as a whole class for grad school!

5/24 weekend - K&L in Raleigh for Jamie's graduation from the PHD program!
5/30 weekend - K&L in ATL watching Chris' half iron man!
6/7 weekend - K&L in ATL for Chris & Kathleen's wedding!

Then a chance to breathe :)

Tyson Update

Watch out folks, Kyle is Blogging!! Leah is usually the one in charge of this sort of thing, but I know she doesn't have time to give an update today so I figured I would take a stab at it.

We just got word that Tyson's surgery was successful and he is in the process of coming out of the anesthesia. The vet found an infection when he took the nail out so it is a good thing that we got it done. He will be bandaged up for about 4 days and on pain meds for the soreness and antibiotics for the infection.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Pray for Tyson!

So I failed to mention this in our last camping post... but Tyson had a little accident when jumping off the dock at the state park. It was metal and while jumping he somehow managed to split his nail completely. He's been limping ever since, and constantly has his whole leg drawn up underneath him. Kyle brought him to the vet today, and he actually has to get his whole nail removed as it's split too high up to heal without infection being a major concern. So I drop him off at 8:30 tomorrow for him to get anesthesia and have his nail removed. It does grow back, so that is good. Poor little Tyson boy... say a little prayer for him!

Camping Out!

After having busy weeks, Kyle and I wanted to get away from society for a little bit and go camping! However, neither of us felt like hiking or packing light... SO we got a camping site and Red Top Mountain State Park about 30 minutes North of our house.
We drove there Friday night after work, and found a perfect spot for us with a ton of room for Tyson to run around without bothering the neighbors. There were some really cool sites down by the water that were taken, so we're going to try to get those next time! We had just enough daylight to set up our tent, get everything ready for the fire, and take Tyson on a walk.

Our site was only a short walk away from the water & bathrooms. But our headlamps came in very handy walking to both!

We stayed up and talked & played cards for a while, finally getting a chance to tell each other about our weeks and just relax. I was in heaven having Kyle all to myself and getting away from all the distractions that we have at home! It was so nice to not know what time it was, or have a schedule to follow. We went to bed around 12 and woke up around 6 to rain dropping on our tent! Thank heavens we had our rain fly, BUT we did forget a tarp to put underneath the tent so we just used a comforter that we had brought. It did the trick and we stayed dry no problem! We both got up around 7, went for another walk then sat by the fire some more. I actually went back to sleep for a little while (still fighting off this cold), so Kyle & Tyson had a photoshoot:
We wanted to stay the whole weekend, but unfortunately rain was in the forecast for all day Saturday. So around 11 we packed up our stuff and drove through the park to see all they had to offer, since we'll definitely be going back there. We found a dock that Tyson thoroughly enjoyed jumping off of:
During the summer, every Saturday night they have bluegrass bands come into the park and play, so both of us are really excited about that. It was a perfect way to spend a weekend, and we both are really looking forward to camping again. It brought back so many memories of my childhood.... we both loved it! If anyone ever wants to join us just let us know!

When we got home we got cleaned up and went for lunch on the square. We sat outside & walked around for a while.... I'm so glad spring is finally here!
What a wonderful weekend we have had! Hope you all get to relax and find time to take in the beauty of spring too!

Tara sent us the cutest video of all the things the twins are doing now! Natalie just spoke her first word, "DUCK"! I also love her backwards wave and Nathan's adorable babbling!
I can't wait to see them in less than a month!

This was his response to seeing himself on tv: hahahahahaha this is great. we were laughing so hard after this because i pretty much had the worst interview ever. kevins was much better than mine but he got cut because I must have a face for TV hahahahaaaaaaaaaaa... she asked like 10 questions but all my other answers were even worse!
(yes my hair and unshaven face looked great i know, and the sun was really shining in my eyes bad)
