Friday - Day 7 - Yellowstone: Waterfalls & Yellowstone Lake Hotel

Friday morning we woke up, packed up our tent and gear and headed south to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. On our way, we stopped for breakfast at the delicious Roosevelt Lodge. The posts inside the lodge were made out of real trees and it had a cool atmosphere.

Once we made it to the Grand Canyon we started hiking "Uncle Tom's Trail", made of 328 steps which gets you 3/4 of the way into the canyon. From the bottom you can see a beautiful view of the Lower Falls.

And here are the steps I was telling you guys about... lots and lots of steps!! So much for the bum knee ha

After climbing back up all those steps we took a 2 mile each way hike to Artists Point. There were actual water color artists painting the falls up there, it was very cool!

We hiked back to our car, then drove to the nearest creek for lunch. We had some rice and chicken still left, so we cooked that up and had a VERY filling meal. I, of course, took a nap in the hammock and Kyle played in the river for a little while. Then we headed to our Hotel to check in!

We stayed in the historic Yellowstone Lake Hotel, and got a room with a view. It wasn't exactly our style with the brass bed and pink comforter, but the shower was awesome! They also had a diner where we had ice cream for a mid-afternoon snack. We drove to the Fishing Bridge, oh man you can't miss that. It's a Bridge where fishing is NOT allowed, but it's called the fishing bridge. I'm being sarcastic people, it was extremely mediocre!

We did however see a couple more animals along the way. It was neat to watch the coyote hunt it's prey, and I actually caught him mid-jump! And this was the buffalo who we called "Big Daddy" the rest of the day. Look at the size of his nostrils!

We went back to the hotel, where Kyle took a 2 hour nap and I read more of my book! We got ready for dinner then headed to the lobby to listen to the live music in the sun room.

We then headed to the lodge for some roast beef and mashed potatoes! It was a delicious meal and afterwords we sat in the lodge by the fire for a while! And that was Day #7!
