Wednesday - Day 5 - Signal Mountain Lodge

Wednesday morning we woke up and ate another one of our Mountain House Meals... eggs and ham! We then walked around our island to look for footprints of any animals that might have visited us the night before... AND we found WOLF tracks and some evidence of elk!! AHH (who knows if they were there the day before... Kyle says they were- I say they weren't!)

We laid in the hammock and read until Tom came to pick us up! If you are ever out on Jackson Lake you guys have got to get a sailboat ride from Captain Tom, nicest guy ever! He didn't want us to have to get wet again so he brought a kayak from the marina and pushed it to us on the island. Kyle took a couple trips for our bags and then picked me up. It worked out perfectly!

After getting back to the marina and saying goodbye to Tom (he refused to take ANY money from us) we headed over to the Signal Mountain Restaurant to eat some lunch! They are famous for their nachos there, (called Signal Mountain of Nachos) so once again we had NACHOS for a meal! They were absolutely delicious and would recommend them to anyone! ( This is the point where we would have gotten off the trail, so now we are back on track with our plans we had made before we left.) We then went over to the lodge to check in.

It's a very pretty lodge that sits right on the marina. But we were most excited about our "one bedroom cabin" that we had booked! It was so cute, and we loved the atmosphere with the logs and fireplace and no tv! We immediately took naps to give us some energy to explore the rest of the day!

We had heard that Ox Bow Bend & 2 Ocean Lakes were perfect places to see some animals so we headed over there. Unfortunately we didn't go at the right time (either early in the morning or right at dusk is the perfect time) so we didn't see any. It was still fun to hike around and explore.

We came back to our cabin, took showers then headed to The Peaks Restaurant for dinner. It was delicious, as both of us got: flank steak, mashed potatoes and veggies. The view from the restaurant is amazing. Here is a shot from the back of the restaurant... SO glad I got the waitress to take this!

It was a pretty relaxed day as we were gearing up for our jam packed days in Yellowstone! We are SO glad we booked that island, SO FUN! And that was Day #5!
