My best friend, Lauren, introduced us to this recipe a couple weeks ago and it's AMAZING. It takes a little prep from the night before, but completely worth it! Enjoy!Creme Brulee French Toast
Ingredients:
1 stick butter
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar firmly packed
2 tablespoons clear corn syrup
1 french baguette at least 9 inches long
5 large eggs
1 and 1/2 cups half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon Grand Marnier or Amaretto liquor
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Stir on medium heat until smooth. Pour into 13X9X2 baking dish. Slice bread 3/4 inch think on diagonal (try to keep it uniform). Arrange in one layer squeezing to fit in. Whisk eggs, 1/2 and 1/2, vanilla, salt and Grand Marnier. Combine and pour evenly over bread. Chill covered up to 8 hours. Remove from fridge 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake uncovered 35-40 minutes until puffed and edges are golden. Garnish with cinnamon and 10X powdered sugar.
