A wonderful surprise!

When Emery and I were in Boone with my family, Kyle was supposed to be traveling for work!  Unfortunately, his business trip ended up getting canceled so he was a bachelor all week here in Atlanta.  He worked really long hours and had quality time with some of his friends.  ON TOP of that he surprised us with completing a huge project on our house while we were gone.

Any time we walked upstairs you could hear every step.  It was so annoying.  The sub floor wasn't adequately screwed to the floor joists so we heard constant popping.  On top of that, the padding at the top of the stairs really smelled like cat pee (remember when we posed about that here).  We cleaned the carpet regularly but could never reach the padding.  It was a goal of ours to replace the carpet before Emery started crawling!

So while we were gone, Kyle spent his nights ripping the carpet up and screwing the sub floor to the floor joists.  Next, he hired a crew to come in, move all of our stuff, rip up the rest of the carpet and padding.  Then put down a new padding with moisture seal, brand new carpet, and put all of our stuff back in place.

Oh man we just LOVE our new carpet on the stairs, Ems room, hallway and our room.  It's so much softer, better quality, and it's darker so it won't show as many stains!  And I've almost forgotten how we used to have to tip toe around upstairs so the popping wouldn't wake up Emery!

Thank you Ky for working so hard while we were gone to fix our floors and replace the carpet.  WE LOVE IT!!
