Leah turns 30!!

That's right, I am officially 30-- whoop whoop!  Kyle planned the sweetest weekend for us to celebrate just the two of us and we had the best time on our mini vacation! Unfortunately, I lost all my phone photos from this trip but thankfully I had uploaded a couple to instagram and can share those on the blog.

My mom came in on Thursday night (July 11th) to spend the entire weekend with Emery.  This was our first time leaving Emery for more than a couple hours, so yes I did cry Thursday night but Friday I woke up excited and knowing she was in great hands!  My grandma also came and spent a day with Emery before she headed over to my cousins house for the weekend.

Kyle totally planned this trip all on his own and he did such a great job surprising me with various things over the weekend.  We got in the fully packed car Friday morning and drove south to Amelia Island, Florida!  Since it's a 6 hour drive Kyle planned it perfectly where we could stop in Savannah on the way down.  We've both always wanted to go to Savannah and it was a perfect break driving around and eating lunch on the river.... such a pretty city!

We arrived in Amelia Island around 4, and got settled in at the hotel.  Kyle booked our stay at the Ritz Carlton which was just amazing (thanks to Marriott points letting our stay be free!).  Our room overlooked the ocean and it was so relaxing to have the outdoor pool (with live music) & hot tub as an option too!

That night we headed over to a friends house for drinks but ended up staying there all night having a blast catching up.  Kyle did spill the beans that we were waking up early the next day to go SKY DIVING!  I've always said that I would do it and what better time to take the plunge than on my 30th right?  AHHH.

Saturday morning I woke up to candles in donuts as it was my actual birthday.  We called the skydiving company to check the weather and unfortunately the winds were too high to jump.  We were totally fine with plan B though--  taking a run on the beach, picking up shells for Emery and eating a delicious brunch at the hotel.

The rest of the day we were in our bathing suits relaxing on the beach.  We were supposed to have rain the entire weekend and we didn't even see a drop the whole time-- such a treat!  Kyle packed our huge Yeti full of all my favorite foods and drinks to snack on the whole weekend which worked perfectly and meant we didn't have to run out for lunch!

For dinner, we went to David's where I had the best Filet Mignon I've ever eaten.  It was such a perfect birthday dinner and one that we thoroughly enjoyed, especially since we weren't having to entertain Emery the whole time!

We decided to skip out on dessert and head back to the hotel where Kyle had packed all of our favorite candy.  We watched one of our Netflix shows on his ipad then called it a night!

Sunday morning we called the Skydiving company again but due to high winds we were unable to go again.  It definitely would have been fun and an awesome memory but our stress-free weekend totally made up for it.  We packed up our things and drove downtown to walk around the shops and eat an early lunch at Timoti's ... a seafood shak with rave reviews.  The shrimp tacos we ate were amazing and we are already looking forward to going back to Amelia Island just to eat there again.

We then got in the car and headed back to see our girl!  Mom and Emery had made delicious cupcakes and decorated the house for my birthday so it was great celebrating again with them.  We can't thank you enough Mom for sacrificing one of your weekends to watch Emery and take care of our animals while we enjoyed a weekend away.  And a huge thank you to Kyle for all the planning he did to make my birthday so special.
