First of all, thank y'all SO much for your comments and suggestions on our blog post on Friday. I loved every single one of them and will show you an updated photo hopefully later this week once we finish staining the handrails on the staircase darker (YEAH!). Thank y'all again!
For the long Memorial Day weekend, we headed to Boone with just our family of three. The weather was perfect the entire time, 40's in the morning then warming up to mid 60's in the afternoon... we love Boone in the spring!
Saturday morning, we decided to drive to Linville and do the Table Rock hike. It's only a mile to the top but man the views are amazing!

After we walked back down to the trail head, we had a picnic lunch then decided to hike in the other direction towards Shortoff mountain. We had seen a ton of climbers heading that way, so it was fun to watching them climbing & repelling off some of the steep walls. Such a beautiful day with blue sky!
Emery had so much fun in the backpack and we love how much she learns when we're hiking. She kept saying "go climb more mountains" and was really enjoying seeing all the animals (birds, butterflies, lizards, etc) and other scenery along the way. Love that we can get away and do hikes like this every now and then -- it's one of our favorite things to do as a family, something we all love and enjoy!
